Aconchego Gallery is a contemporary exhibition space in the heart of Lisbon dedicated to art, expression, representation, connection, and healing.
We believe art can be a powerful form of reflection, release, and transformation. It can help us process experience, connect with ourselves and others, and create space for healing through creativity and shared expression.
Every two months, we welcome a new selection of artists into the House, creating space for emerging and established voices to share their work, tell their stories, and connect with new audiences.
Our exhibitions reflect the spirit of Aconchego House: diverse, curious, inclusive, restorative, and always evolving.

Meet Our Current Artists
Ellie was born in the United States and spent her childhood on the east coast in Wilmington, North Carolina. Growing up, she was discouraged from trying film photography due to the cost. As a an adult living in the Appalachian foothills of Alabama and working for NASA, she had the freedom and surrounding nature to finally explore this hobby. She moved with her wife and two dogs to Lisbon in October of 2025 and has enjoyed photographing the city and surrounding nature. Her other hobbies include making electronic music, reading fantasy and sci-fi, and surfing!

Ellie Jones
Marlon Lyles
Marlon is a contemporary American artist based in Lisbon, Portugal, whose practice centers on geometric abstraction and explorations of the seen and unseen. Working across oil, acrylic, and ink, he draws inspiration from architecture, urban landscapes, patterns, and the geometry of everyday environments. His compositions often compartmentalize forms, breaking them into distinct yet interconnected elements. Lyles’ ongoing G-man silhouette series examines identity, self-perception, and what lies behind the human façade. Conceived as a continuing series of self-portraits, these works investigate the complexities of the human condition while balancing structure, repetition, fragmentation, order, and visual tension within each composition.

Taquia Turner
Taquia is a freelance illustrator based in Portugal, where she lives with her husband and three children. Her passion for art bloomed within the concrete jungle of NYC, watered by her always encouraging family. Memories of drawing mermaids and princesses on her great-grandmother's lap fuels Taquia's desire to spark joy for others through her work.
Using digital media or watercolor, Taquia creates vibrant and detailed illustrations for licensing and promotional materials. Her work is often inspired by nature, fantasy, culture and travel. Each image is created with care and thoughtful design, resulting in meticulously crafted and engaging artwork. Every piece created is a labor of love.

Aconchego Gallery accepts artist submissions for our rotating exhibition programme.
New artists are selected every two months, providing six opportunities throughout the year for new work and perspectives to enter the gallery.
We welcome submissions from:
Emerging and established artists working in painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, mixed media, illustration, textile, digital art, installation, and other contemporary practices.
Selected artists receive:
Gallery exhibition space, opening-reception participation, promotional support through Aconchego House, artist visibility through our website and social channels, and opportunities to connect with Lisbon’s wider creative community.
Artwork Sales
Artists may offer work for sale during their exhibition.
Artists receive 70% of the final artwork sale price. Aconchego House retains a 30% gallery commission on works sold through the gallery.
Revenue generated through the gallery helps support Aconchego House and its nonprofit cultural and community programming.

More Than a Place to Exhibit
At Aconchego House, we believe art can create opportunities for people to see differently, connect more deeply, and discover perspectives beyond their own.
Our gallery programme provides artists with a platform to exhibit their work while giving the community regular access to contemporary art in an environment that feels welcoming rather than intimidating.
We are especially interested in artists and work that explore ideas including:

Artists do not need to identify as LGBTQIA+ or create LGBTQIA+-focused work to exhibit at Aconchego House. We welcome artists whose work contributes meaningfully to a diverse and inclusive cultural conversation.
That broader positioning supports Aconchego’s existing mission of welcoming people across sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, and background while intentionally creating greater visibility for communities that are often underrepresented.
